Robert Wilks has been at the forefront of international Powerlifting administration for over 40 years.
He been the CEO of Powerlifting Australia for many years, was on the Executive Committee of the
IPF for some 20 years and has been a Director of World Powerlifting since 2018. In those roles he
has had carriage of various WADA-compliant anti-doping programmes, been a director of Coaching
and has promoted and been meet director for hundreds of Powerlifting events, from local to World
Championships.
Robert is particularly well known for the creation of the Wilks Formula (now Wilks 2020), long the
standard for objectively assessing Powerlifting performance. He has recently been the author of the
World Powerlifting Technical Rules and the Wilks Age Formula.
Robert’s formal qualifications include a degree in Economics from Monash University, an M.A. in
Clinical Psychology from the University of Melbourne and a Graduate Diploma in Coaching from the
Australian Institute of Sport. He is a member of the Australian Psychological Society and the
Australian Society of Certified Practising Accountants.Now Robert has taken up the position of Vice
President of World Powerlifting Lanka and will bring his wealth of experience to the task of taking
Powerlifting to a new level in that nation.
