Rear Admiral Lakshman T. B. Illangakoon (Retired) completed a distinguished career with the Sri Lanka Navy in 2013 and has since been an international maritime security consultant.

Recognized for his bravery in action, he was decorated three times and represented the Navy in sports, including tennis and practical pistol shooting. A dedicated sportsman, he also served as president of the Kandy Garden Tennis Club for several years.

An alumnus of Dharmaraja College – Kandy, he furthered his studies at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, the Kotelawala Defence University (KDU), and the National Defence University in Pakistan. He graduated with distinction from the United States War College and received military training in India, Pakistan, the United States, France, and other countries.
